For the adequate interaction with the external world, we perceive and respond to everyday stimuli. Flexibility and cognitive control are fundamental for internal and external adjustments. The prefrontal cortex plays a critical top-down role involved in focusing and integrating, judging and executing, and finally storing information for future response optimization. These domains will be exposed in this chapter, enlightened by studies that suggest them to be highly interactive and developmentally plastic. In parallel, the newest discoveries using task-based and resting-state functional connectivity approaches will be incorporated. Our intention here is to disclose the most exciting new and classical discoveries upon imaging cognition, instead of extensively covering the subject. Along with these lines, we expect to stimulate the student and perhaps future young scientist with this constantly growing field of research. The complexity behind human cognitive skills is perhaps one of the biggest challenges in the field of research – down to comprehending how we became what we are."],["dc.identifier.doi","10.1007/978-3-642-54542-9_11"],["dc.identifier.gro","3150747"],["dc.identifier.uri","https://resolver.sub.uni-goettingen.de/purl?gro-2/7537"],["dc.language.iso","en"],["dc.notes.status","final"],["dc.notes.submitter","chake"],["dc.publisher","Springer"],["dc.publisher.place","Berlin, Heidelberg"],["dc.relation.isbn","978-3-642-54541-2"],["dc.relation.ispartof","MRI in Psychiatry"],["dc.title","Imaging Cognition"],["dc.type","book_chapter"],["dc.type.internalPublication","yes"],["dc.type.peerReviewed","no"],["dspace.entity.type","Publication"]]Details DOI
