The opposite is true for many emerging and transitional countries that are experiencing an increase in purchasing power and demand. However, these countries often have lower food safety standards than in the EU. In response to current trends in international food trade, this study seeks to determine whether traders in developing-transitioning countries and in industrialized European countries (especially Germany), are experiencing changes in trade flows in the international fresh-fruit trade and also identify the role of private standards in connection with relevant situational factors driving these changes. Underlying assumptions are derived from the concepts of the contingency approach. To obtain qualitative data, a series of semi-structured telephone interviews were conducted with industry experts from fourteen import countries and twenty-two export companies. Based on the results of a structured content analysis of these interviews, appropriate political, managerial and research implications are developed promoting the liberalization and harmonization of public and private maximum residue levels for fruits within the EU."],["dc.description.sponsorship","Deutsche Fruchthandelsverband (DFHV)"],["dc.identifier.isi","000375405700007"],["dc.identifier.uri","https://resolver.sub.uni-goettingen.de/purl?gro-2/41911"],["dc.notes.status","zu prüfen"],["dc.notes.submitter","Najko"],["dc.publisher","Int Food & Agribusiness Management Review"],["dc.relation.issn","1559-2448"],["dc.title","Have Industrialized Countries Shut the Door and Left the Key Inside? In 2014, theWorld Trade Organization’s (WTO) Dispute Settlement Body reached a landmark decision and accepted an European Union (EU)-wide import ban of seal products under the justification of Art. XX (a) General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) due to “public moral concerns”. However, up to now there has been no valid and reliable scale to quantify moral concerns. Therefore, we developed a tool—the Moral Concerns Scale (MCS)—to measure moral concerns of a society about, for example, animal welfare or child labor in a valid and reliable manner for npr-PPM. This scale was developed and tested in two independent studies with German citizens (in 2016 and 2017) using three case studies: hens laying eggs in battery cages, the inhumane killing of seals, and the use of child labor. According to the results of both studies, the reliability and validity of the developed scale can be confirmed."],["dc.identifier.doi","10.3390/su10051375"],["dc.identifier.purl","https://resolver.sub.uni-goettingen.de/purl?gs-1/15286"],["dc.identifier.uri","https://resolver.sub.uni-goettingen.de/purl?gro-2/59287"],["dc.language.iso","en"],["dc.notes.intern","Merged from goescholar"],["dc.publisher","MDPI"],["dc.relation.eissn","2071-1050"],["dc.relation.issn","2071-1050"],["dc.rights","CC BY 4.0"],["dc.rights.uri","https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0"],["dc.subject.ddc","630"],["dc.title","Measuring Public Concerns? How consumers respond to potential conflicts of objective is largely unknown. Therefore, this article has examined how laypeople have handled selected conflicts of objective in pig farming. To this end, intensive guided interviews were conducted with 10 consumers in November 2015 in Gottingen with the method of \"thinking aloud\" and then analysed by means of a summary content analysis. The results show that the assessment and resolution of conflicts of objective is linked to personal previous experience, emotional feelings and the visual representation of facts, and is difficult for the consumers. The pros and cons presented for the facts are only included in the decision making if what is seen is new to the consumers. Animal welfare arguments have the greatest weight in the decision marking. An increased dissemination of information can lead to greater acceptance in some areas of livestock farming (e.g. keeping animals on slatted floors). It will be difficult to find reasons for the legitimacy of some systems (e.g. the farrowing crate). Here, it is possible that only a change of system may lead to increased acceptance."],["dc.identifier.isi","000404278500005"],["dc.identifier.uri","https://resolver.sub.uni-goettingen.de/purl?gro-2/42574"],["dc.notes.status","zu prüfen"],["dc.notes.submitter","PUB_WoS_Import"],["dc.publisher","Bundesministerium Ernahrung Landwirtschaft"],["dc.relation.issn","2196-5099"],["dc.title","How can the requirements of society be integrated into possible processes of change?
