After transcription and processing in the nucleus, the m7G-cap-dependent export of the snRNAs U1, U2, U4, and U5 to the cytoplasm occurs. In the cytoplasm, these UsnRNAs specifically associate with seven Sm-proteins and form a doughnut-shaped snRNP core structure. This assembly, mediated by the SMN complex, is a prerequisite for the hypermethylation of the m7G-cap to the 2,2,7-trimethylguanosine (m3G)-cap. Snurportin1 (SPN1), specifically, recognises the m3G-cap and facilitates the nuclear import of UsnRNPs. The recently determined crystal structure of human SPN1 reveals a significantly different binding mode for the cap structure in comparison to that of the m7G-binding proteins CBC, eIF4E and VP39."],["dc.identifier.doi","10.1007/b106799"],["dc.identifier.gro","3145428"],["dc.identifier.uri","https://resolver.sub.uni-goettingen.de/purl?gro-2/3133"],["dc.notes.intern","lifescience"],["dc.notes.status","public"],["dc.notes.submitter","chake"],["dc.publisher","Springer"],["dc.publisher.place","Berlin Heidelberg"],["dc.relation.crisseries","Topics in Current Genetics"],["dc.relation.eisbn","978-3-540-31454-7"],["dc.relation.isbn","978-3-540-24495-0"],["dc.relation.ispartof","Fine-Tuning of RNA Functions by Modification and Editing"],["dc.relation.ispartofseries","Topics in Current Genetics"],["dc.relation.issn","1610-2096"],["dc.title","Role of the 5’-cap in the biogenesis of spliceosomal snRNPs"],["dc.type","book_chapter"],["dc.type.internalPublication","unknown"],["dc.type.peerReviewed","no"],["dspace.entity.type","Publication"]]Details DOI
