Abstract
Magnetron sputtered iron/gold multilayers are investigated by cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy. Thermodynamic considerations can explain the different observed microstructures near the substrate and near the top of the multilayers. (C) 2002 Kluwer Academic Publishers.
