Male bonding occurs both in male philopatric and in male dispersal primate species. The evolution of male bonding can be linked to the evolution of rank-changing within-group coalitions, because males preferentially form coalitions with partners with whom they are closely bonded and on whom they can rely. The social support provided by male bonding can convey a buffer against social and environmental stress and can increase male reproductive success by promoting the attainment and the maintenance of high social status."],["dc.identifier.doi","10.1002/9781119179313.wbprim0239"],["dc.identifier.gro","3151085"],["dc.identifier.uri","https://resolver.sub.uni-goettingen.de/purl?gro-2/7850"],["dc.language.iso","en"],["dc.notes.status","final"],["dc.notes.submitter","chake"],["dc.publisher","Wiley Blackwell"],["dc.publisher.place","Chichester, UK"],["dc.relation.doi","10.1002/9781119179313"],["dc.relation.isbn","978-1-11917-931-3"],["dc.relation.isbn","978-0-470-67337-9"],["dc.relation.ispartof","The International Encyclopedia of Primatology"],["dc.title","Male Bonding"],["dc.type","encyclopedia_article"],["dc.type.internalPublication","unknown"],["dc.type.peerReviewed","no"],["dspace.entity.type","Publication"]]Details DOI
