Zur Messung und Erklärung von Produktivitätsentwicklungen: Eine Analyse auf Basis eines stochastischen Distanzfrontieransatzes / Measuring and Explaining Productivity Growth: A Distance Function Approach

Zusammenfassung Die Veränderung der totalen Faktorproduktivität wird anhand einer outputorientierten Distanzfunktion in die vier Komponenten technische Veränderung, technische Effizienz, ailokative Effizienz und Skaleneffekt zerlegt. Mit Hilfe von Paneldaten, die für landwirtschaftliche Unternehmen im Zeitraum von 1991 bis 1994 in Deutschland und Polen erhoben wurden, werden stochastische outputorientierte Translog-Distanzfunktionen geschätzt. Eine Abschätzung des Produktivitätspotenzials der beiden Länder im horizontalen Vergleich erfolgt mit Hilfe einer Metadistanzfrontier. Die Ergebnisse lassen vermuten, dass die Produktivitätsentwicklung in Deutschland (+ 6%) und Polen (- 5%) im Wesentlichen von der Komponente Technische Veränderung vorgegeben wird. Summary Using an output-oriented distance function, the total factor productivity growth is decomposed into the change of four components: technical change, technical efficiency, allocative efficiency, and scale effect. Stochastic output distance functions are estimated based on panel data for dairy farms in Germany and Poland for the time period 1991 to 1994. To get an estimate of the productivity potential in a cross-country comparison of these regions, the concept of a meta-distance frontier is introduced. The results indicate that productivity change in Germany (+6%) and Poland (-5%) are mainly determined by the component technical change.
